Life Events

There are many significant events along life's way. Some are times of joy and celebration - others can be sad and difficult. Many of these events are often marked by a special service in church when family and friends come together.  The links below will tell you more about what the church has to offer.

Birth or Adoption

Perhaps you are celebrating the birth or adoption of a child and would like to mark the occasion with a special service of thanksgiving.

Christian Commitment

One of the biggest decisions a person can make is whether to become a Christian. As a church we believe we are created by God for a purpose. God has made himself known to us in the person of his son Jesus and wants to live in relationship with us. A Christian is one who makes the decision to respond to God's invitation.

Baptism

Baptism is a sign of belonging and entry into God's church. Water is a symbol of cleansing and life - we cannot survive without it. Being baptised is a powerful expression of life and faith. Washing away an old life and experiencing the love and forgiveness of God are expressed in the sacrament of baptism.

Confirmation or Church Membership

Some people who are baptised as babies or young children may choose to 'confirm' those baptismal promises when they are older. Many people these days are baptised as adults. Church Membership is an opportunity to affirm baptismal promises and to make a public commitment of faith to God and his church.

Marriage

Probably needs little explanation! Many people choose to get married in church to ask for God's blessing upon their married lives. Marriage is ordained by God and finds its fulfilment in Him. Some people choose to have a wedding blessing or reaffirm wedding vows at a later stage of life.

Bereavement

The saddest and most difficult part of life. Jesus offers great hope in the presence of death through his life, death and resurrrection. The church aims to offers help and support to those who are facing the loss of a loved one. We are here to help.
